Blindhem Stitch Invisible Hemmer Portable Sewing Machines for Apparel Weight Fabrics, Not for Heavy Drapery!
Additional Information:
(Q) What type thread is used with this machine? Would thinner serger thread be ok?
(A) Yes, MaxiLock single strand polyester serger thread is fine. You can also use 100% nylon thread if it has some texture, as opposed to clear nylon (like fishline) which is more abrasive to metal parts. John
(Q)Can I use portable hemmers for light to medium drapery fabrics which have headers wider than your arm space?
(A) All portable blindstitch hemmers have the same distance between needle and neck of machine, from 2.5-3". As long as your header is lightweight and soft enough to roll over the edge, or roll up into the arm space, you can sew with more than 2.5-3" of fabric to right of needle. Some 4" plus light drapery headers are still too stiff with crinoline backing to roll. The fabric thickness limitation of portable blindhemmers is due to one revolution of the needle depth dial, whereas power stand machines have multiple revolutions of needle depth dial for heavier drapery fabrics and blackout lining.
