CUSTOM CUTOUTS WILL INCURE ADDITIONAL COST IF DATA IS NOT ON FILE. The custom fee for home made cabinet inserts is still $100-150 more if CNC data is not already on file with Sew Steady. If Possible, we recommend buying an insert and use that to cut your opening instead of cutting then buying. It saves you the custom fee.*

Sew Steady Cabinet Insets & Inserts are designed to fit your specific make and model of sewing machine and cabinet and fills gaps around your sewing area*, allowing you to work more efficiently and comfortably. Like their tables, they are made with one of the highest grades of acrylic.

Please choose your general size and style of insert above using the drop down. The actual size of opening in the cabinet is needed to complete your order.

Small Inset / Insert: combine length + width of cabinet opening = less than 29"
Medium Inset / Insert: combine length + width of cabinet opening = 29" – 35"
Large Inset / Insert: combine length + width of cabinet opening = 35" – 41"
Extra Large Inset / Insert: combine length + width of cabinet opening = more than 41"
Inserts have a lip to catch on the cabinet top – this is when the cabinet opening has no method to support the insert.
Insets (no lip) sit flush inside the cabinet opening & rest on a ledge built within the cabinet.

The make and model of cabinet are also needed to help ensure the proper insert is selected.

Any changes from standard are more. All Sew Steady Cabinet Inserts are made from ¼” thick clear acrylic.

"With Lip" inserts are made to fit openings with no ledge underneath to keep the insert from falling through. "No Lip" inserts are made to fit openings with a wooden ledge to hold the insert in place.
Do not order No Lip if your insert will fall through the opening! No Lip Inserts are made to rest on a ledge, brackets or corner supports ¼” down from the surface of your cabinet.

Sized for Cabinet Openings to Fit Around the Freearm Surface in Flush FlatBed Position for Your Brand and Model Sewing Embroidery and Serger Machines. If your sewing machine drop in bobbin (top load) cover does not come straight up and off the needle plate (if it slides toward the operator) or if your bobbin case is underneath to top of the arm (front load), you will need to lift the insert to replace a bobbin.

Sew Steady Cabinet Inserts are designed to fit your specific make and model of freearm sewing machine and cabinet. The Insert fills the gap between the sewing machine and the opening of the cabinet to create a flat working surface*. Made with one of the highest grades of acrylic.

Please be careful when determining the make and model of your cabinet. It is vital to ensure the proper size insert is selected since this product is made-to-order and non-returnable. If you are unsure of the make or model, have a custom cabinet or one that is not listed, or desire a bespoke design, we will work with you to determine the right product. Please see the Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ) section below for more information.

*Please Note: Inserts are made for your machine and the width of the opening of the cabinet or table. Depending on the size of your sewing machine compared to the opening of the cabinet or table, the insert may not extend all the way around machine as shown. Machines must be smaller than the cabinet opening by a minimum 3" in depth at widest part(front to back) and 2" in length (left to right) for insert to wrap completely around machine as shown in picture.

If the machine is wider or longer than these minimums we may still be able to make a Filler piece to help fill gaps and still create a smooth sewing surface. Our standard Insert design allows for approximately 1-1/2” – 2” on the right for clearance for the cords and handwheel, when space permits.


LIP -Inserts have a lip to catch on the cabinet top - this is when the cabinet opening has no method to support the insert.
NO LIP - Inserts sit flush inside the cabinet opening & rest on a ledge built within the cabinet.

SEW STEADY INSERT/INSERT DESIGN STANDARDS: All of our inserts are designed based on having any accessory tray removed from the machine. The standard is to have enough space on the right side of the cabinet opening to allow space for machine cords, to use on/off switch, and accommodate for the hand wheel to be pushed down into the cabinet. The insert is designed to be perfectly level with the free arm of the machine. If you have a top loading bobbin this may affect your use. Please contact us in advance for other options. If the machine fills the majority of the opening of your cabinet then we may have options outside of a standard full insert to help fill in those smaller gaps. If you plan to use a knee lift feature while your machine is in the cabinet, contact us for placement.
