We have added Organ 15x1ST-PD Titanium Coated Home Embroidery Machine Needles for a box of 100 plus shipping. They are better than Schmetz E Needles because the eye is also coated with Titanium to resist wear from regular embroidery as well as metallic threads. So, now our customers don't need separate stock of embroidery and metallic needles. Organ doesn't need separate metallic needles because of PD Perfect Durability Titanium coating on more types of home and industrial sewing machine needles.
Schmetz embroidery needles have a larger eye. What is it about the Organ Embroidery needles that makes them better for embroidery?
Our Organ 15x1ST does have a larger eye than the standard 15x1.
I just compared our 15x1 #11 and our 15x1ST #11 and the ST definitely has a larger eye than the 15x1. It is about 10% wider and 20 % longer. Of course if you are looking at them with your bare eye and not through a magnifying glass it is difficult to see the size difference. If the eye was any wider the needle would break as there would no be stability.

I did notice a couple of things on your page of your website detailing these 15x1ST Needles. They are as follows:
On the 15x1STPD The points will last 3 times as long. The needles will still break
Organ are in chips of 10 not 5
On the last 15x1ST I think it should say "recommended size 11" not "best size 11"

Susan, Titanium coating makes the needles last 3 times longer. Thread breakage can be caused by resistance of thread going through the needle eye/size. A good rule of thumb is that thread should not take up more than 1/2 the space of or in the needle eye depending on thread texture. Thread a needle in your hand and let the needle slide down over the length of the thread. If there is too much resistance, it may show up as broken thread due to heat built up in higher speed sewing and/or just restriction and resistance in the needle eye which can cause thread to shred and break. There can be many more reasons for thread shredding and breaking, other than just matching correct needle eye size to thread size.. John M. Douthat President Allbrands.com
I received my order today, #1832833-DO/NY. I'm not sure you sent the right needles. Upon looking through a magnifying glass there does not seem to be a difference in the eye size in comparison to my other standard Organ needles. The Titanium coating is obvious.
Message to Manufacturer: I know that Organ 15x1ST embroidery needles do have a slightly larger eye for 40wt embroidery thread than 15x1 regular for the same size needle.
Is it visible or measurable? Could the Titanium coating make any difference in appearance of needle eye size vs 15x1 regular needles of the same size? .
It's a small difference. When Organ puts titanium on the needles, they re-engineer the needle to reduce the dimensions of the needles by however milli microns to compensate for the titanium plating. Excellent product. The Titanium coating prevents the build up of heat, which in turn, caused sticky back stabilizer to melt and gum up the needle, tangle and break the thread.
