You must use a Ruler Foot when working with rulers and templates when stitching directly onto a quilt.

Ideally the Ruler Foot should measure ½" across the collar with the needle stitching at 1/4" from the ruler or template edge. This will make it easy to calculate spacings across a block or quilt.

Nolting, A1, Handy Quilter, Innova and Prodigy machines all have a true ½" round Ruler Foot. Gammil and APQS have a 9/16" Ruler Foot, which will stitch out at 9/32" from the ruler or template edge.

At Westalee Design we have been making all our templates since 2008 to suit both sizes.

Our templates are made Machine specific and you will achieve the same result for either sized foot.

We have Great News for Gammill owners!
We now manufacture a ½" round Ruler Foot to stitch a 1/4" from the template edge to be used with 1/4" or 3/8" thick templates. Made from stainless steel composite material, with good visibility from the front and back, supported at the sides, there is no way the Ruler Foot can slip under or over a template.

Template thickness, an explanation.
There have been some posts suggesting that there is no reason why you can not use 6mm or 1/4" longarm templates and rulers on your domestic sewing machines when using a ruler foot. Unfortunately this is not allways the case.

This foot has markings to guide stitching.
Project Tip: Unstitch the side and lower portion of the jeans pocket, create your desired design and re-stitch the pocket back onto the jeans.

Definition of 12" Arc: Arc is cut from a 12" Circle so it's not 12" long but closer to 6" in actual length.
Arc is also sold in sampler set. 12" Arc is also known as a Curve template and can be purchased in a variety of sizes.

Yes! You can weave circles together. In this 60 min class learn how to make perfect circles of any size using the Circle Sewing features of the Sew Steady Wish Tables or the Circle Sewing Tool. Then, weave them together to create Table Runners, Bed Runners, Candle Mats and even a full size Bed Quilt. The process is not only fun and easy; it is all done by the sewing machine. No HAND stitching! (My kind of project). The pattern included is for a 10” Circle; however, you will learn how to do any size of circle to create unique projects.

Diagonal Seam Tape is placed on the sewing machine to make sewing diagonal seams easy with no marking lines on the fabric first! It is placed in front of the feed dogs of the sewing machine, with the red stitching line in line with the needle. The black lines represent a perfect 1/4" seam allowance, which helps guide fabric, make HST's without marking lines, and is a great help for beginners learning to sew and keeping long strips of fabric straight. Diagonal Seam Tape is washi tape, so it's strong, thin, and removes cleanly. Remove it after each project to prevent any residue on the machine. Each roll is 10 yards.

• Sew a scant 1/4" seam allowance. Red lines mark 1/4 " and 1/8" pivot points in front of and behind the needle. Straight stitch, length 2.0-2.5.
  
• Place two pieces of fabric right sides together.
  
• Sew with edge of fabric at edge of foot. To pivot 1/4 " from end of fabric, stop sewing with needle stop down, when fabric edge reaches first red mark on foot.
